Ministry of Public Works Says Traffic on Expressway on Second Day Increased by 60%

PHNOM PENH: The Ministry of Public Works and Transport announced that the number of vehicles traveling on the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway on the second day increased by 60% compared to the first day.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Public Works and Transport released on Monday, 3 October, there were 14,322 vehicles recorded using the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway on the second day (2 October) of its test launch. This figure showed an increase of more than 60% of travelers compared to the first day on 1October. The Ministry said that this is a positive sign that the expressway is a good choice for travel and transportation.

The Ministry added that there were 53 cases were travelers needed consultation, more information or sought help from the 1399 helpline.

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport also emphasized that driving on the freeway requires all drivers and passengers to cooperate in thoroughly understanding the instructions and strictly enforcing the driving conditions, with respect to all traffic laws, in order to make all trips safe and fun.
